Debates
Previous Topics and Parliamentary Leaderboards
Who is your favorite singer? |
The leaderboard is based on the points that individual's earn from the parliamentary-style debates we do every session. The difference between a regular debate and a parliamentary-style debate is, put simply, how formal it is. Parliamentary-style debates are much more rigid in structure, with only a few individuals having to represent the rest of their side with a strict time limit. The speakers are followed up by a series of questions that the two sides propose to one another. Individual points are calculated based on the speaker's confidence, the quality of their speech, and the content of their speech, with a final score being given out of 5. We genuinely believe that any attempt to speak during a parliamentary-style debate is a good thing, as it can be very tough, especially for those who find public speaking stressful. Any attempt to get involved is supported and appreciated, and even if it doesn't go too well, there's always next session to improve!
The leaderboard is kept by the Committee, and only those in the top positions of the leaderboard are published, but if you're ever curious, just ask, and we can let you know your individual score! |
